It is the seed of the idea of Freedom: liberty is more valuable than life.<\/p>\n<p>The President&#8217;s Oath of Office is ever so short:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So, when I hear a president say that he is going to keep the American public &#8220;safe&#8221; my response is:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Well, thanks for taking care of the <strong>second<\/strong> most important thing (life).  Now how is it going with the preservation of the Consitution?
