Day of High Jinx

This morning a client called me from overseas at 7:10am. It was a good thing because otherwise I would have overslept and the kids would have been late to their first post-holiday day at school.
It is bitter cold outside. The snow melts partially during the day, but the biting wind re-freezes it into solid ripples on cars, cement and houses. I spent part of the morning scraping ice off my car and shoveling the walk; a faithful chore of love I do for my wife.
After driving the kids to school I headed to the studio, arriving well before anyone else. I started preparing projects for various artists and also doing some general organizing. It is a new year so all the paperwork for the previous year needs to be sorted and filed. We finished nearly 1100 projects last year, the equivalent of at least 250 armies. No mean feat.
Read that again… Two HUNDRED fifty armies! That’s a conservative estimate.
It was a day filled with distractions. Like this:
Right now, I have the studio Iyanden army on the block. It’s a really good deal, like the Imperial Guard and Chaos Space Marines. Oh, you’ll all be sorry when I take them off the block! hehe.
I have yet another Iyanden army coming back home this week. You’ll probably see that in a Batrep.
I’m booking projects for February. Don’t hesitate to contact me for any matter.
It snowed about three times today. It make the world muffled and white. I really like it and haven’t tired of a white winter. Utah is a great place to live. I came home around 7pm to my adoring children and a meal of home-made turkey-noodle-soup and apple cobbler. Pretty sweet.
Super Saturday

Today was a perfect day. I went out to sushi for lunch with wife, mother-in-law, and baby. Then off to the studio to “work” (ie hanging out with Renn and Mike who were playing Orcs v Vampire Counts 1850 pts). More Orcs are painted and they are looking good.
In with the New
Picture: Chaos Knight of Slaanesh: see the rest here. This is an army that turned out so well, and looked so impressive that I wanted it for myself. It turned out so well, and the new Chaos Mortals models are beyond belief.

Well, it’s 2009. The year flew by. I started all alone in my little dungeon, and now the studio has really come together again. Like a phoenix from the ashes. For a while now I’ve wanted to just barf out all my various thoughts in one mega-schpiel, but every night I’m just so tired I don’t do it. So, that’s coming.

January is all booked up. I’m now setting up projects for February. In case anyone is interested.
My mother-in-law is staying with us, a la the baby. That’s really nice and takes a huge load off. I have a really good mother-in-law, she’s helpful but not intrusive. Yeah, so I’ve been catching up at work now that I don’t have so much extra home duties.

Baby and Mommy are doing well, in case anyone wants to know. All is well in the Gately household.

And all is well at the studio. The group is tighter-knit and happier than ever. Our new year’s party was a bit of paradise. I wish we could do another one this weekend. Out of sight. The crew is amazingly talented, just beyond belief.

I have abandoned the Skaven again. In one short month the Lizardmen are out, so time to save up my pennies. So, of course I won’t sit still. I’ve got a few warriors of chaos plastics to get cracking with, maybe something can come of that. Not sure what I’m going to do.
Eldar Rangers
Today, I have a game of 40K scheduled. I’m playing the studio Iyanden army against Ultramarines.

Reading up on the Eldar Rangers I found something really keen. They can be upgrade to Pathfinders (stay with me now). That give them, among other things, AP1 sniper shots if they roll 5-6 on the to-hit roll. It gets better. Sniper type weapons are now Rending, which has been moved to the to-wound roll (Sniper weapons always wound on a 4+ which is unbelievable against high Toughness targets). So, on a roll of 6 on the to-wound, they are also AP1.

This is a great weapon against Tyranid monstrosities.

I would definitely recommend a unit of five in any Eldar army. The models are great looking, for starters. In the game they are extremely flexible, durable, and deadly.
