No reports of injuries

My wrists hurt really bad tonight. I am giving them a break. See you all tomorrow.

Monday: crank it up

It’s Monday! Yay!

I’m already up before the crack of dawn ready to go. I’m answering all the inquiries that came in over the weekend. I hope to have good headway on that before heading to the studio bright and early this morning.

I need to mow and trim the lawn before I head out, though.

On Saturday I started up a game of Warhammer Fantasy with Renn, the first at the new studio. We only got to the end of turn four. He thinks I should concede, but I say “never say die”.

I am on standby for you. I am eager to set up new projects.

The Green Woman

My wife, Tamara, is a miracle of nature. She grew up in rural Utah, a feral child who knew which plants are edible: sucking the nectar out of flowers and eating “cheesies” (a weed) from the yard. She was out and unsupervised from dawn until dusk.

.

She is a master cook. She can make pies from scratch. Any kind of food from scratch. She gathers fruit from local trees and makes jam every summer. She keeps a clean kitchen, a well-stocked pantry and cooks up a storm morning noon and night.

..

She is thrifty. She loves to buy things on sale. When she splurges it’s on food and staple items.

.

She is quick to serve, to rush out and help a soul in need. She gives without counting the cost.

.

She is the genuine article. She wears the same face in public and in private. There is no guile. She is quick to forgive and never bears a grudge, not even for ten minutes. She probably won’t even get upset about me posting this quite unflattering pic. It’s a moment of fun for us while cleaning the garage.

.

We’ve been married now fifteen years. She has brought four gorgeous, healthy children into our lives. She bore each of them natural-like with no intervention. She goes into this trance and lets it happen.

.

The day we met, she wore a green lace dress. We were at church. I was a Sunday School teacher and she was in my class. From the day of our first date to engagement was nineteen days. I guess I had a lick of sense after all. I sensed that Tamie was a good thing going.

Laboring

I’ll be at the studio both Saturday (today) and Monday (Labor Day), ready to set up projects, answer questions or be of any use to you at all. I would very much like to get some projects set up.

Oh, won’t you get your new army done by Blue Table?

I am still running the Pandora’s Army special, which I think is by far the best deal ever. We have produced about ten quality armies this way already, and have about six more currently in process.

There’s also a variant on that called a Turbo Army. It means that you can narrow it down to a single army type that you want.

.
There are also two copies of Space Hulk left ready to be painted up This is a limited edition.

The best thing is that it’s only half up front– this means you can pay for part, then have about four or five weeks until your next paycheck to pay the other part. The common man can get it done.

I also allow for multiple payments, splitting it up into as many as four installments. Just tell me the approximate finish date you want and I’ll get going on it. This means that for a 1500 pt Pandora’s Army (for example: you can do this with any project) you would pay $215 per intallment.

The new studio is all together and looking mighty groovy. I’m just now processing some video of that.

Apes

Start with a cage containing five apes. In the cage, hang a banana on a string and put stairs under it. Before long, an ape will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the apes with cold water.

After a while, another ape makes an attempt with the same result – all the apes are sprayed with cold water. This continues through several more attempts. Pretty soon, when another ape tries to climb the stairs, the other apes all try to prevent it. Now, turn off the cold water. Remove one ape from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new ape sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his horror, all of the other apes attack him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs, he will be assaulted.

Next, remove another of the original five apes and replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm. Again, replace a third original ape with a new one. The new one makes it to the stairs and is attacked as well. Two of the four apes that beat him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs, or why they are participating in the beating of the newest ape.

After replacing the fourth and fifth original apes, all the apes, which have been sprayed with cold water, have been replaced. Nevertheless, no ape ever again approaches the stairs. Why not? Because that’s the way they’ve always done it and that’s the way it’s always been around here. And that’s how company policy begins….

Dire Avengers Redux part 02

Insights from a client (thanks MN):

Shawn,
.
Just thought I’d point out a few things about your previous eldar post.
.
1. 10 avengers with blade storm:9 guys 2 shots each+1 for blade storm=27 attacks, Exarch 4 shots (2 catapults) +2 for blade storm (gets+1 per catapult) means they actually get 33 shots off, 6 of them at bs 5.
.
2. The dire sword of the exarch is really a mini force weapon, not something at str 3 I’d want to bet the farm on but I’ve had the odd hive tyrant and marine special character be killed off by it. At ws5 and init 6 the exarch ain’t bad in close combat and at init 5 and ws 4 the avenger crew is fine for mopping up horde units or severely weakened infantry squads.
.
3. Guide+doom=dead stuff, especially since a doomed unit has wounds rerolled by all avenger units that shoot at it, not just one of them.
.
4. Technically, codex chaos space marines is really a fourth edition codex, much like the eldar codex. Both were designed with fifth in mind, but without the blatent points reductions and power ramping found in the guard, orks, and marine codexes. Chaos is a powerful codex still, but not as flexible or as varied as its previous incarnation.
.
If you want to see what eldar can do, put a unit of 10 wraithguard with farseer/eldrad in front of a unit of dual scatter laser warwalkers.24 shots a turn, with the wraithguard providing both a cover save for the walkers and a wall of t6 meat shield with guns that can kill anything in the game is ruff. Being able to fortune the unit of warwalkers, guide them, doom the target…or fortune the wraithguard (pick three if you’re using eldrad) is ridiculous. Someone did this to my poor world eaters at aardboys and it wasn’t pretty.

.
Have a great day.

Uphill Both Ways

Business as usual!

Well we’re all moved in. I’ve been up since around 6am, just revving the engine for a regular business day. I am eager to get some new projects set up. I am standing by for calls and emails.

Everything in the studio got moved from basement level to ground level, transported, and then moved from ground level to the second floor.

It was uphill both ways.

My home teacher showed up with a truck and a twenty foot trailer. It was amazing. We got all the big stuff in like two loads. It was a truly heroic effort.

I think the phrase “grueling ordeal” applies. But it’s all done now. I am expecting to get the video processed by Friday afternoon.

Afterwards we headed to Magleby’s for fish tacos.

Once at home, after the heat of the day mellowed and the crickets started on their half-hearted droning, my lovely wife rubbed Arnica gel on my shoulders and brought me pancakes and ice-cold milk.

I’m putting the Warhammer Fantasy and Other armies on the block again. All the expenses of the move have tapped out the kitty. Those following the saga of Blue Table should be familiar with these forces already:

Heru Sky Raiders $950
Skorne (in brass and turquoise) $750
Lizardmen (3000 pts) $1500
Dark Elves (3000 pts) $1500

This is a limited time offer. I just need one more shot in the arm to put this place over the top.
